Frequency converters

Frequency converters are used to control AC motors ; the motor most used in the industry.

When powered, the AC motor will accelerate fast and than continue to run at a specific rotation speed which depends on frequency and motor design. For the pump this means that, when it is not manipulated by valves or any other piping accessories, it will give a constant capacity and head.

For many applications a fixed rotation speed is fine. For a lot applications however, fast acceleration, unrestrained deceleration and the inability to control rotation speed and torque can be a big problem.Frequency converter provide the solution by adapting the frequency and voltage to the motor. This way a pump's capacity and head can be controlled electronicly.
